My Tall & Handsome is fond of garlic bread, so garlic spread is a premium product around here.
We use a lot of garlic in our house because of its health benefits. Read this article at WebMD about garlic and you’ll see what a worthy addition it is to your diet. So, I don’t mind preparing garlic bread for him occasionally.
But, do you get tired of buying those expensive store bought garlic spreads that usually come in small containers, cost a fortune and might contain preservatives?
Store Bought Garlic Spread
I decided to take matters into my own hands the other night when we needed some garlic spread for garlic bread to eat with our pesto pasta with roasted red bell peppers. It’s easy peasy, and there’s other ways you can use it – like on baked potatoes.
Homemade Garlic Spread
6 tablespoon butter, brought to room temperature and softened
1 teaspoon minced garlic (* you may add more if you desire a stronger garlic taste)
1/4 teaspoon granulated garlic not garlic salt
1 teaspoon dried parsley
- Beat butter with a hand mixer until it becomes soft, light, fluffy and almost light lemony in color.
- Add minced garlic, granulated garlic and parsley. Beat until well mixed.
- Pour into a container with a lid to store in the fridge.
I will set this out on the counter ahead of time to allow it to soften, them spread it on some sliced of Italian bread and sprinkle some Parmesan cheese over the bread and slide the pan under the broiler until the bread is hot and bubbly.
Store in the fridge when not using.
