Warm weather is finally here and that also means we’ll be grilling more. But, what to do if you need a fast, tasty dish and no time to grill? Fast and Easy Barbecued Pork Chops are the answer you’re looking for.

With the recent discover of avian flu in chicken farms in Canada and in 5.3 million chickens is Iowa we may be using the other white meat – lean pork loin – for our barbecues. Lean pork has been found to be good for diets because ounce for ounce it’s as lean as chicken, yet leaves you feeling full and satisfied longer.

Boneless pork loin chops are the main ingredient in this fast and easy dish that delivers a tasty punch. Today’s recipe is based on a Taste of Home recipe I made some changes to to make these barbecued pork chops a little lighter and healthier.

Be prepared to set back and enjoy a yummy meal in a matter of minutes.

Fast & Easy Barbecued Pork Chops

1 tablespoon olive oil

8 – 3/4 in. boneless pork loin chops

1/2 cup packed light brown sugar

1 small sweet onion, chopped

1/2 cup ketchup

1/2 cup barbecue sauce

1/2 cup honey

1/2 cup lite French salad dressing

1. Over medium heat in a non-stick pan brown pork chops on each side for 2 – 3 minutes. Don’t be tempted to turn the pork chop before then, you are searing in the juices and creating a nice browned surface.

2. In a bowl, mix the remaining ingredients. Pour over the pork chops in the pan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until pork chops reach 145 degrees. Let set for 5 minutes.
