The Collections Grows…Again

By Beverly Hicks Burch

The trouble with a “collection” is the question, “When the heck do I stop the madness exhilarating fun of hoarding collecting these wonderful items?”

That’s the question I ask myself concerning cookbooks. As I mentioned when I started this blog, I’ve been collecting recipes and cookbooks for over 30 years now…actually a lot longer than that…I was in grade school when my mother gave me my first cookbook the Betty Crocker Cookie Cookbook…a heady gift for a young lass who still enjoyed watching the old Donna Reed reruns. If Donna could cook, Bev could, too…

Over the years my collection grew when I added clipped recipes, handwritten recipes-some by me and some passed along by others and of course stacks of cookbooks began to accumulate.

Then I married Tall & Handsome and he had his cookbooks and we’ve added our cookbooks and of course we both continue to add particular ones that interest us individually. A couple of Christmases ago he wanted a French cookbook and a Chinese cookbook.

The current quest is for a great Greek cookbook, so if any of you know of the best, greatest Greek cookbook, please let us know!

A couple of days ago I had run into Sam’s to pick up some prescriptions. While I was waiting to pick them up I was browsing the books…cookbooks in particular…you see I needed a few more like I needed those big ol’ ear things kids are putting in their pierced ears these days to stretch out their ear lobes to the size of say a dinner plate! It’s very attractive…NOT! I digress…

I was actually looking for a Greek cookbook, but my eyes settled on three little bargain jewels I couldn’t pass up…you’ll see why when you see the price and one splurge cookbook by a fellow blogger.

Run down to your Sam’s to see if they have these neat little hardback cookbooks at these bargain prices…they can’t be beat! They’ve got some great recipes and I’ll let you know how they are as I cook through them…

I can identify with this gal because she was a suburban/urban gal that married a jean wearing, cowboy hat wearing, southwestern cowboy like my Tall & Handsome 🙂
